Description
Westland is an Alberta apple introduced in 1979 from a cross of Heyer 12 and Dr. Bill. The large fruit has pale yellow green skin flushed light red and juicy off white flesh with a tart flavour.
Westland ripens in August and is useful for pie, sauce, and juice. Pick the fruit while firm because the flesh can soften quickly when left to mature fully on the tree. The tree has a drooping habit, somewhat weak branches, reliable heavy crops, and some susceptibility to fire blight.
