Description
Saskatoon (Amelanchier alnifolia), also called Serviceberry, Shadbush, or Juneberry, is a native shrub or small tree. This seed was collected locally from the forest around Oak Summit Nursery.
Purple fruit ripens here near the end of June and is eaten fresh or used for pie, wine, and jam. In good years, local plants carry large clusters that weigh down the branches.
