Stowell’s Evergreen is a celebrated white sweet corn introduced in the mid-1800s, selected for ears that held their quality on the stalk longer than many early corns. Tall, vigorous plants produce well-filled ears with creamy kernels and old-fashioned sweetness.
This heirloom is best eaten fresh or preserved soon after harvest, when the flavor is at its peak. Plant in blocks for strong pollination and give it time to mature. Stowell’s Evergreen is one of those old varieties that helped define sweet corn season.
