Alcea rosea is a short-lived perennial or biennial of southwestern Asian origin, widely naturalized across temperate gardens and grown for centuries as a stately cottage-garden staple. The Spring Celebrities Mix produces densely doubled blooms in a warm range of rose, cream, lavender, and deep burgundy along tall, upright spikes that can reach six feet or more. Plants perform best at the back of a border or against a fence or wall, where their vertical structure earns its keep through the full growing season.
