Description
National Pickling cucumber was introduced in the 1920s with help from the National Pickle Packers Association, bred for uniform fruit that fit the jar as neatly as they grew on the vine. The cucumbers are medium green, blocky, and crisp, with the classic shape for dills and spears.
Harvest small for baby pickles or let them reach 5–6 inches for slicing and larger pickles. Productive vines keep the kitchen supplied, and the fruits bring that clean cucumber snap every gardener hopes to hear under the knife.
