Hawthorn (Crataegus sp.) plants were grown from locally collected seed. The exact species is uncertain because several native hawthorns occur in the area.
These hardy small trees produce red fruit used by birds and other wildlife, along with spring flowers. Seedlings will vary in thorniness, fruit, and mature form.
