Description
Ben Tirran is a black currant bred at the Scottish Crop Research Institute and introduced in the 1980s. Its Ben Sarek lineage was selected for late ripening and high anthocyanin content.
The upright shrubs produce good yields of medium to large berries with firm skins, deep black colour, and high vitamin C. The cultivar has moderate resistance to powdery mildew.
