Description
Beedle Pear is named for John Beedle, a former Parks Director and Parks Planner for St. Albert, Alberta. The cultivar was discovered among Siberian pear seedlings planted along a city boulevard. The original tree is now gone, but the selection survives through propagation.
Medium sized fruit ripens on the tree in early September. The flesh is sweet, soft, juicy, and free of the astringency found in some hardy pears. Beedle also keeps relatively well compared with Ure and Early Gold.
