Description
(Monarda fistulosa) (aka Bergamot, Oswego Tea, Horsemint, Monarda) This native wildflower was considered a medicinal plant by many indigenous tribes, especially to treat colds. The leaves are used in tea with a similar flavor to Earl Grey blends. The leaves and flowers can be used fresh or dried and can be added to salad, or meat dishes. A very useful native plant! Wild Bee Balm has pink to lavender flowers and is loved by pollinators, butterflies and hummingbirds. Sun. Ht: 2-2 ½’ Perennial Zone 2.
