Description
Silver Buffaloberry (Shepherdia argentea) is a thorny shrub or small tree with bright red edible berries. The sweet tangy fruit grows in clusters along the stems and makes excellent jelly.
Blue green leaves are smaller and rounder than Sea Buckthorn foliage. The plants fix nitrogen and provide food and cover for wildlife.
Male and female plants are separate, so both are needed for pollination and fruit production.
