Description
Red Core Chantenay is a sturdy heirloom carrot with broad shoulders, tapered roots, and a deep orange-red center that gives it its name. Shorter and thicker than Nantes types, it handles heavier soils better than many long carrots while still bringing sweetness, color, and crunch.
Harvest around 5–7 inches long, when the roots are full but still tender. This is a fine carrot for roasting, soups, stews, storage, and fresh eating. It has the solid, practical shape of a carrot built for the kitchen garden.
