Description
Red Brandywine is a true heirloom tomato with deep Pennsylvania roots, associated with Chester County and the late 1800s. The fruits are red, round to slightly flattened, and richly flavored, with the full, old-fashioned tomato taste that belongs on a thick slice of bread in July.
Indeterminate vines set medium to large tomatoes with meaty flesh, juicy texture, and enough character to stand on their own. It is a handsome garden tomato for sandwiches, platters, and summer meals where one good tomato can carry the plate.
