Description
Pin Cherry (Prunus pensylvanica) is a small fast growing native tree with bright red tart cherries that feed birds and other wildlife. Around Oak Summit Nursery the fruit ripens in mid to late July.
The tree has a narrow rounded crown, smooth reddish brown bark, and leaves that turn bright yellow in fall. It is common in open woods, forest edges, and disturbed sites.
