Description
Magnolia denudata seeds mature in September, known as the Yulan magnolia, is native to central and eastern China. It’s a deciduous tree growing to 5 – 15 m high. White flowers come before leaves in spring. Bosom period is short, usually around 10 days, but very attractive and slightly fragrant when flowering. It has been cultivated in Chinese Buddhist temple gardens since 600 AD. Its flowers were regarded as a symbol of purity in the Tang Dynasty and it was planted in the grounds of the Emperor’s palace.
