Description
Hungarian Hot Wax is an heirloom pepper with smooth, tapered fruits that start pale yellow, then turn orange and red as they mature. The heat is lively but not usually overwhelming, wrapped in thin walls and a bright pepper flavor that makes it useful fresh or preserved.
The plants are productive and early, setting peppers that are easy to spot against green foliage. Pick them young for pickling and stuffing, or let them color for more heat and sweetness. A row of these looks like little lanterns warming up.
