Description
Discovery is an early English dessert apple raised by George Dummer from an open pollinated Worcester Pearmain seed. Beauty of Bath is believed to be the pollen parent. Suffolk nurseryman Jack Matthews introduced the cultivar around 1949.
The apples are crisp, juicy, sweet, and acidic, with bright red skin and fruit about 66 mm wide. Discovery has better keeping quality than many early apples, although its storage life is still only about a week.
