Description
Banyan Tree (Ficus benghalensis) is a tropical species native to the Indian subcontinent. Its branches produce aerial roots that can reach the ground and form additional trunks, creating the broad canopy associated with mature banyans.
The species can be trained as bonsai, where restricted roots keep it smaller while preserving its aerial roots and branching character. It requires warm conditions and protection from frost. Soak the seed in warm water for 24 hours before sowing.
