Latin name – Eugenia stipitata

Araza is a rare fruit from the Amazonian region, and a close relative of other fruits like Grumichama and Surinam Cherry.  Its flavor is very tart/sour with notes of guava.  If eaten fresh, they’ll make you pucker just like eating a lemon.  Araza fruit are typically used in making beverages or desserts, and sometimes eaten fresh.  They can grow to the size of a tangerine when ripe.

Araza is a plant which adapts well to full sun or partial shade, and is cold hardy down to 30 degrees.  They grow as a bushy shrub, flowering often and setting fruit in the spring and summer. _____________________________________________________________________
