Description
Alpine Currant (Ribes alpinum) is a dense, rounded shrub native to central and northern Europe. It is commonly grown for hedges and foundation plantings.
Bright green lobed leaves turn yellow in fall. Small yellow green spring flowers may be followed by red berries, although the shrub is grown mainly for its foliage and compact habit. It tolerates sun or partial shade, urban conditions, and soils ranging from sand to clay.
