Description
Ussurian Pear (Pyrus ussuriensis), also called Harbin Pear, is Oak Summit Nursery’s preferred pear rootstock and one of the hardiest pear species. This seed was collected locally in Manitoba.
Small round yellow green pears ripen from late summer into early fall. The fruit is tart and astringent compared with common pears but can be eaten or used for preserves and cider. Seedlings develop into large, long lived trees with glossy foliage that turns red, orange, and yellow in fall.
